My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Interesting stuff going on with the 1.15 at Bangor, I didn’t watch it but it’s still trading on Betfair. I was trying to get on Oneida Tribe but I was just too slow!

    Damn my slowness!

Did it not lose the dead heat in the stewards room?

Ah ok, that makes me feel better!
It must have been very close – Oneida Tribe was shorter odds for most of the time when it was being debated..

Looks (and sounds like from commentary in last race) that initial result was a dead heat, then amended result after. So anyone on Oneida Tribe would have had 50% of the first past the post jackpot.

Was hoping for that on the 2.50 as they drifted close on the run in, but just the hills boost win instead as wasn’t much in it

    Magic.

So instead of winning c£300 on my boost in the 1.15, I made about 15p in the 1.45…

    Ah well, it’s only money!

Not much happening today for a Friday – Wetherby Abandoned

William Hill going back to 2 Clear but will probably give it a miss (managed to get new account opened).

I was watching the racing on TV last week and the advert for High5 came on, they were making a big deal about paying out over £1/2 Million in bonuses last year. It occured to me that (assuming they run the promotion for 100 days and pay out on average once a day) by my calculations they are paying out only around £30k (5k bonus) every race.

I always assumed their turnover would be far higher than this. A couple of guys on here can make a big difference to this figure if they are hitting the nearly full bonus. It looks like rather than a drop in the ocean some of the guys betting on here will be some of their biggest players… makes it easier to understand the gubbings..

Hi all. Got a couple of questions regarding ew arbing and restrictions. So for the past month and a half, my main source of matched betting profit was from bet365, and I used that account solely for the purpose of ew arbing. Only did some occasional football bets, but never did any itv/feature races. So as expected, got the restriction and gubbing as a new years present. Some of you guys may be aware the bet365 offers very good cashout value, so incase the horse drifts you are always covered. I normally placed my bets the night before on horses which prices were out of line with other bookies, and very often ended up getting insane arbs the morning after. I just wanted to ask how do you guys approach ew arbing once bet365 is gone. Do you simply take a gamble on which horse will come in? And what do you do if it drifts, or the place terms changes due to non runners?
Apologies for the long post, but I would really appreciate some advice regarding the above issues.

It’s occurred to me that the best offer out there is by far BOG. I just hit £50 on a BOG bonus going for a small EW arb. Get on anything earlier enough for zero QL and hope for the best.

bbobb, I am assuming you were on One More Chance at 13:30 Southwell? I hit the BOG too. But for ew arbs, if a BOG situation does arise, it normally means that you are getting poorer place value. Don’t normally go for such short odd horses, but been a bit dry for the past couple of days so tried to squeeze out some profit. Going back to the point I made earlier, the second placed horse was available to back at 26 last evening on bet365 whereas most other bookies were offering odds around 15. The horse ended up running with an exchage sp of about 8.5, so that would have been a massive arb on both the win and place part if I wasn’t restricted by those cowboys

Yeah, was on One More Chance.

The last at Southwell was a mystery…. got on the Fav at 3.25/2.9 just before the off. It then drifted out to about 3.7 and was taken all the way round the outside of the course to finish last in a 6 furlong sprint.

Fav in the next is at 1.6 in a 6F 13 horse handicap race at Southwell, anyone backign at that price needs their head examined…Im hoping for a drift and a BOG when it wins by 10L.

That Kempton one is a little belter, so expect the inevitable non runner!

bookiebasher – your question yesterday, there are lots of different techniques..

Some people (see Chris) have been very successful at identifying horses likely to be a good bet in bad ew races.. back early and then underlay later for a shot at a big payout. If the horse drifts or the place terms change then you have a problem – there’s no good solution – punt it, lay it for a guaranteed loss (and hope bog helps you), hope it comes in again…the selection of unappealing choices is endless!

With reasonable size bets, I pretty much always lay immediately after placing my bet (which is not for everyone as you undoubtedly lose some of the value (almost all of the time)). I like it because I can place however many bets I want without having to keep track of what I have and haven’t laid…. find an arb, bet, lay and then look for another arb.. It’s worked for me…

Taking a chance on that La Mernancia at Hills in 6.15 race. 50s. Out of line with rest of bookies.
