Betfair is showing that Art placed…
+0Need more of those nuggets Tony! A promotion to top officer is on the cards. With more shouts like those 2, and with the current absense of General Enigma…..could be a big step up on the cards!
Although I get the impression you prefer to be in the thick of things with the troops..so will review all that in due course+0Nice one MR M. Yeah Jazz party was decent- I napped it up near show prices timeon Scabs Naps. Went off small win arb and about a 2.5 place arb. Think at 20-1 SP it actually went off as an eway arb (which is unusual)
+0Yeah, great shouts Tony. I pretty much finished work got the early 17:05 one you had posted, looked at the 16:30 and then came back to another 2 tips – got on those and got a decent return on all 3! Absolutely no effort on my part at all – Top work!!
+0Yeah I was super lucky on the Jazz party. I was scanning the card with only about 10 mins to go, had some internet issues trying to move some funds about. Had the live feed up on betfair after chucking a couple of quid on the fav to see if still had time to place the bet and got on just about 4:30 and the place had come in nicely, so great return on that one for me.
Working from home & checking odds during the day isn’t as easy as I was hoping. I will probably drift in and out throughout the day (can’t seem to stop the phone ringing at annoying times!)

Were you trying to hit the magic 4th then? If you did, nice one! I normally just lay on the 4 to place market at the lower place odds and either lock in or underlay the place. I didn’t underlay much on this one, but still grabbed a few ££s
+0I don’t think I said in my post that I was looking at the 4 to place market, not the standard 3 places (its been a long day!)
+0Gonna have a pre race browse of tomorrows potential and give an early idea of possible potential in a bit.
Also going forward will be running a new post/competiton (with no prizes!) at the end of each week with a look at 3 catergories..1 ‘Monster Arb’ of the week- 2 ‘Epr Star’ of the week- and 3. ‘Arb in the frame’ top 5’s. Tips/naps will be looked at based on tipped/spotted price and final win/place lay prices, and how much they profited if doing the buisness. Only posts on this thread counting (None just posted on Scabs naps etc)
+0No worries MR M. Although the post did raise my heart beats a wee bit! thinking maybe there was a late stewards. Aye long day indeed! Time for a sun/air top up….
+0Oh just saw your other post mate. Yeah around 99% of the time Ichase the 4th/extra place for either no loss/or for as much of my stakes as the 3TP place price lets me- Letting the place loss ride for the value crack at the EP.
Although going forward I’m going to be more flexible when considering what to do in good value posistions in bad eways/EPRs. And will be looking at overlaying big place arbs and sometimes maybe splitting the differences on 4 /5 place markets. Ive hardly ever overlaid any arb before but a study of my own Scabs Naps performances and also researching other Bad Eway historical data has brought my to the conclusion that for various reasons overlaying big price place arbs is a very worthwhile option.
+0Great result! Sorry didn’t post response been busy for an hour.
Wish I held out for secraterio steamed in before race. Someone knew something!
Extra place is the big one for me!! Well happy with that. I always chase the extra place, I’ve never contemplated the underlay on 4tp tab. Think I prefer the jackpot hits!
+0But I do always check the 4/5 place markets prices to ensure that I’m getting an overall value EWay arb in any EPR. For instance in Tony’s Race today I was pretty sure that that EPR had little to Zero E/W value- but when both his tips win prices lined up more or less- it was clear from the 4tp markets that both had overall place arb values of around 0.5 pt. So lumped on for value, and waited till race time to see how I ended up before laying off on the win/3 t place for close to my stakes total.
I think all laying is about what ones comfortable with, be it waiting till race time for lays/ laying as early as poss/ or overlaying for regualr steady profs..As long is you get on when its an overall Each Way value shot…Then all the different laying stratergies should balance out pretty much in the end..
Of course overlaying leads to more in commisions paid, but it helps keep profits ticking along- which perhaps offsets the less commisions paid on- no/under laying/just laying for stakes- which can lead to frustation/reduced energy when little is making the frames! So im more open these days to more flexibity on laying options, for as I have learnt over time not keeping the profits roliing in from consistent good posistions can lead (in my own case) to a drop off in focus/energy- which can in turn lead to missing out on some good value races/oppurtunites..ie missed $s!. So wil lbe applying all the different lay options myself now, depending on how the ball is rolling along!
+0Hey Tony! Im same as you mate. Prob cause I used to have and quite enjoy a ‘mug’ flutter years ago. Getting in on a good value shot in an EPR or a Bad Eway (same thing) leads to the free/cheap buzz of cheering on a big pay out, with odds that are in reality much higher than what youi should be getting for your small place lay ‘loss’! or of course for Zero losses in the good poistions in a normal bad EW. ‘The Art of Gambling widout Gambling’ as Ive said/mis quoted Bruce Lee before!. Cant remember last time I laid on extra place markets. But I dont think its a bad thing to do at all..each to ones own..Occasional big pay outs/lots of thrills..or less thrills/more steady small profs rolling in…
+0Evening chaps, sounds like I missed a good arb army episode today. Was on a road trip with no internet access!
Nice to read though the posts and see you chaps sticking to the bookies!ha
Hopefully some opportunities for me tomorrow
