Bad EW Races NO CHAT

  • Right an idea I got from oddsmonkey, we post the daily bad EW races on here with no chat or discussion, plenty of topics for that. Think this thread will help us all in case you don’t think it will just skip this please ?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Thanks Chris – I suspected as much.

22.0 on Steel Express – was about 1pm. Underlaying the win but already a decent arb on the place. Got nowhere near in any case.

Tested the water with the same bookie with a £5 win bet at Wolverhampton this evening – qualifying loss limited to exchange commission and contributing towards weekly free bet fulfilment. Went through without incident. Might give it a week then try again…

Alex, are you having trouble laying the win because of it drifting? Or just the place part isn’t coming in as expected?

Could have just been a standard check by the bookie then. Very common for bets on horses 20/1 etc to be referred to traders at the smaller bookies. All of my bets at my gubbed William Hill account get referred but approved.

    Hmm, seems a trend here

All my beys at Coral/Laddies that stand to win more than £750 get referred, none have ever been refused (yet). Typically £25ew on a 33-1 shot when the exchange is at the same price.

Thanks guys. If it comes up again I will ride it out and see what happens.

Nice little community here – the majority seem very happy to help out and give time to those who are newer to matched betting. I will definitely try to contribute where I can moving forward!

There always seems to be a nice arb on the place, but the win part is ridiculous.
I’ll have something like 21/23. Arbing at 5/4. Then after I bet the win lay will just drift to like 50, then I’m screwed so usually just let it ride, which never comes off.

    Anything else?

Yeah that’s something i mentioned the other day about the lack of liquidity. A good looking selection at the time can suddenly seem like a poor one after a couple of people have laid and start to chase the market. I’d say you’ve just been unlucky to date as Chris says. Stick with it and long term you’ll be fine.

Yep they look the best races today, 4:55 Kempton should throw up some value too.

If I am backing a horse early in the day I normally lay first then back as the price is unlikely to shorten when the price drifts as you lay.

That can be risky too bbobb if the bookie won’t let you have the stake you have already layed off…

    High5 today at Fakenham.

Good course for favs (almost 40% strike rate) and 4/6 of the results from the previous meeting this year would have hit bonus. Though maybe a bit too competitive to pick the winner today apart from first and last race.

If you see a value ew arb the prices will drift on the exchange as everyone else sees it and piles on. Dont let it put you off, it’ll come back. Usually.

16.55 Kemp worth keeping eye on. NR’s might help here

There should be some good value in the 18.40 once it goes to 4 places at 1/4 odds on B365..

The new website feels a lot more modern and less cuddly than the old one.

In the 18.40 at Dundalk, Plough Boy is 15.0 in the 4 place market and 13.0 in the 3 place market at b365..
