  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Sorry I actually meant the Barca game, this one only had one goal.

Oh no Pickle I hope it didnt hurt you too much, I did the same a few months ago on a Dutch football match, luckily I was able to fully lay it off. Still wasted a free bet though.

Well unlike you Chris, I have never had any luck when I mug bet anything. Tonight for instance.
I was tempted not to cash out the lay bet but last time I done it I lost both bets. Just sod’s law.

At least it’s a lesson costing £20 learnt.

Haha Pavlon, what a response! Hats off! A man who never made a mistake never learnt anything. I think what a lot of people think is that matched betting is just for a select few and the fact more people are jumping on it seems to frustrate a lot of you. But they are just as entitled to try it just as much as anyone who has been doing it for a long while. And each person is different in their ability to pick things up, sometimes it take a few of the same mistake for people to learn and some people take a longer while to grasp concepts than others. Putting people down for asking what they deem ‘stupid questions’ is pathetic. If you have a problem with it don’t reply, simple. Matts suggestion of a newbie section is something that needs to happen. There is a huge amount of elitism going on here. In fairness the fact we all have this to subsidise our main income shows we’ve all screwed up somewhere in lift to need the extra £500 a month!

You raise some good points however I think a lot of people would agree with me that we don’t NEED the extra £500 a month…I could live quite happily without it, just not going to take a pass at free money.

    well said bob
when someone makes an innocent mistake and is asking for help, tagging a post with ‘DumbC_nts’ is beyond elitism. I was new here yesterday, not on for an hour, and my blood was boiling.
What amazed me from my interactions yesterday included the following – when a matched better taking easy money from bookmakers says this: ‘A general problem with society these days , too many wanting something for nothing’… they’ve clearly lost the plot :P

Ffs this is becoming like a bloody kindergarten in here. Settle down lads and play the game. If somebody posts something that is wrong then kindly tell them they are mistaken and move on. At least the OP took his time to try and aid the community.

You’re putting the Primary kids I work with to shame in terms of their one-upmanship and bickering.

If it makes anyone feel any better, I’ve made some silly mistakes since starting match betting; these mistakes are more down to not paying attention rather than not understanding markets.

I once lay a bet as the odds at the bookie were an offer so unlikely to change unless the offer was suddenly pulled. Turns out the bookie had limited my stake to 21p (had no email from them). Thankfully I managed to back the bet in play at similar odds anyway so managed to save my bacon.

I also wasn’t paying attention and lay a bet that was a completely different market to what I had backed! At half time I backed Arsenal to win vs Barcelona in play (risk free) and accidently lay 0-0. Thankfully the bookie loss was risk free and the game obviously didn’t finish 0-0 so I was lucky.
