Flat season is tougher alright. I’ve noticed far more FBs winning on higher odds horses lately too in the flat races. Can’t keep exchanges loaded lately.

What part of the 30k came from MBing Fandango?

I’m c£15,000 up @unowhatimeanharry, so half of it. However, I was fortunate that I could put a fair bit of cash at work which clearly helps as there is less time lost whilst you move money around. When I started out I was able to churn through offers, both NCOs and regular offers, pretty quickly.

Dutching small field races can be pretty lucrative (such as today’s 14:40 at Newton Abbott) even in the Summer months and I’ve had positive results of up to £300 per race doing this – typically when a mid-priced horse drifts a few points but wins triggering a very nice BOG payout.

I use Twitter but not for matched betting. Am I missing a trick?

No, I’ve never used Oddsmonkey. Keep meaning to check it out but I’ve not got round to it.

Just looked at that Bet On Brazil offer (i never knew it was on as dont have an account)

Even getting a tight match on Juventus surely qualifying loss would have been £50 at best, more likely a bit more near £100, for example 2.9/3 was £92

So with £800 extracted from free bets, what odds would you have given on ronaldo scoring in first half and juventus not winning?

It would have to be less than 7/1 given above example of qualifying loss, be interesting to here from anybody that did the offer and what they went with

Leading up to the match Juve were 3.1/3.1 a couple of times. If you were using Smarkets for your lay and were going “all in” with a £2000 back, you’d be looking at around a £27 QL.

I’ve never used Smarkets enough so rarely have much in there – something I need to change. I had sufficient funds for the lay in Betfair (and I’d have saved something on existing lays on Real) but even with a reduced commission, the QL was too high for my liking there.

Fandango – Thanks for the explanation

Harry – Maybe I should join your new elite group 🙂

So far today I had a go at all the money back second to favourite offers, money back beaten by a length, two lengths of more bonus

And I have hit the grand total of 0

Certain specific races yes, and I value the two lengths or more bonus as a better promotion that the money back seconds to favourite etc, but there is absolutely no way you can be smashing through these offers and picking up like two to three a day, no way

Whether they bring in any profit in the long run, these obscure offers will be so non commercial its untrue

ffs another jockey eases up and winning margin goes from 3 lengths to 1 and half

cant hit a barn door today

There’s always the opportunity of some BOG when attacking a lot of horses and races.

Out of the blue 10bet today gave me “bet £50 on racing today and get 2 * £10 free bets” which is a nice one to receive. I used it to try and play their “2nd place to SP fav” offer at Newton Abbott (whilst not simply doing 5 * £10 on non-favs) and although I didn’t hit any refunds, I did hit some BOG on one race which more than offset my QLs.

I also played two small field races (NA 14:40 and 16:45) when they went to 100% books and picked up a bit on each of those too.

Remember that if you are looking like landing some BOG ahead of a race you could lay some more back to lock in a smaller but guaranteed profit either immediately before or after the off.

i got similar offer fandango, £50 but on any sport

i shouldnt moan, just realised i benefited from that non runner in the 5.35 to make profit

but i have had my taste of doing these basic offers and for the time i have put in today, not worth the effort

especially when trying to hold down a full time job at same time

What’s with all the ‘flat racing no good for Eway arbing’, ignoring the fact that’s false (beestys original thread mentions flat enough) there are plenty of jump meets over summer months and ones where short priced favs crop up. You just lose some of the Eway opportunity from the big field handicaps where there are trusted jumpers that will get round but v unlikely win

And can you enlighten more on dutching small fields? The one mentioned had a 10% over round earlier, all tomorrow’s have at least 3% over round even on this early pricing. Not sure where the value is coming from, unless it’s trying to hit as close to 100% as possible then BOG.

I didn’t mention e/w arbing – it’s not something I have much experience of (I assume it’s backing each way, laying the win component and then leaving a good arb on the place component?)

However I did find I had a lot more success, by which I mean profits, from the jump season proper than I am experiencing right now. I would do a lot better from High 5 than I have from my attempts at 2 Clear, and I seemed to do a lot better on the 365, BF SB and Betway ITV racing offers than I have done on the flat. It could just be my experience though – I appreciate I’m a small sample size!

I get on small fields when the book is around 100%. Sometimes the books are such that you make a small profit placing your bets and then, yes, you hope for price drift and BOG. Both the races I mentioned above returned small profits from this today, although the first one was mainly due to 2 non-runners.

My other racing tactic is each-way dutching. Typically races with a short priced favourite and a few longer priced horses. Back each horse each way such that you are either in a worst cased position of a small loss, although often guaranteed profit. The size of the profit then relates to how long the odds are of the horse that wins. The best result I’ve had with this was the Queen Mum Champion Chase at Cheltenham where, despite having £750 on Douvan to win, I didn’t want him to win. Special Tiara winning saw me profit about £1200 on that race alone.

I was replying to a whole host of posts since my last reply so the Eway arbing bit wasn’t aimed at you
Thanks for your reply though. Interestingly your Eway dutching is using same principles of value as Eway arbing. But sounds like you benefitted more from Douvan flopping. Can’t remember if I hit 2 places now in that race, but the only difference with special tiara winning rather than 3rd for me was a smashing of exchange balance

At moment i am not sure if i am chasing the extra place races too much as opposed to just taking the best each way arbs possible

Trying to hit that extra place, sometimes taking qualifying losses that are not leaving much profit long term

For example like the derby, sky bet top 5 places 1/5 odds, while say bet365 were top 4 and 1/4 odds, and they usually offer better odds too
