All businesses look at ways of increasing revenue/reducing costs.
It most be obvious to everyone the rapid incease in match betting over the past 12 months has hit the bottom line of the bookies.
The William Hill cheltenham offer where they announced 8 qualifying events for a £10 free bet was pulled very early.
They would have done projections based on last year on the expected take-up, but looked like they were overwhelmed and had to pull the other after a couple if events.I know matched betting had gone on for years but not on the scale it is at the moment.
Look at the number of newbies on here,just about everyone and that includes Ryan,Fog_Blog et al.
How many people who have had accounts for years and have been gubbed in the last 6 months.

+0Ive lost bet 365 ladbrokes will hill boylesports and paddy. Beat sp all the time u get shut down. Its not just matched bettors who get closed down. The machines in the shops and the online casinos etc are free money for bookies and they dont like to lay a bet anymore because of this. Ban the FOBTS and they’ll have to start taking proper bets again.

At the end of the day though everyone knows its not going to last forever, we all are fully aware we can’t quit our day jobs and just live off matched betting.
My aim is to get £20k for a house deposit, and I am 100% positive I will hit that before I get fully gubbed. I still have most my accounts open after doing this for a year, yes I have lost a good few on the way but there are still plenty of the more obscure bookies who offer great deals to profit from.

3.2 million in free bets for sky club when I checked after the gubbings dropped to 3 million. So roughly guessing that they terminated 40,000 matched bettors? Or for some other reason some ppl that earned a bet one month didn’t bother this month.

That’s less than 1.5% not much…I could imagine there would be quite a few people who don’t bet £25 each week, which would count for a few of those.
