Bad EW Races NO CHAT

  • Right an idea I got from oddsmonkey, we post the daily bad EW races on here with no chat or discussion, plenty of topics for that. Think this thread will help us all in case you don’t think it will just skip this please ?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Haha, yeah I have the same problem trying to explain this to the Mrs. I think the fact that every so often big, big bookie withdrawals get deposited in to her account confuses her as she automatically thinks its profit.

We are all gambling to a degree.

You are always taking a chance that the price doesn’t change between the back and lay, it often does.
There is the chance that you make a mistake, £500 for me this week.
On EW arbs even when you think the field is big enough you could have 4 or 5 non-runners.

I would say that the difference is a mug punter is gambling with around a 94% edge, we are doing it with around 105% (I’m guessing that figure). Even with the edge it’s not unusual to go a few days a lose a good bit of money.

Yeah depends where you are in your matched betting career felt. I think starting out taking the guarateed is the obvious and sensible choice but when you’re on borrowed time, best to try and max the profits whilst we can.

My accounts are all but done, however got a friend whom has a few left and hasn’t signed up to a fair few. I have thought about the underlay it’s just never appealed (specially when the odds are 6.0+ etc for top 3)

I do get a bit jealous when your big wins come in though ;)

You’ll be jealous when Lulu romps home in second then :P

My profits have gotten a lot better since underlaying.

To be honest, in terms of long term profit-

not laying at all > underlaying > guaranteeing profit

Each additional step is like paying an ever increasing insurance premium that cuts into your profits but evens out variance. Long term, to take max value, simply don’t lay at all, but I’m not quite brave enough for that hence just underlay :)

Chris, have you already layed off Lulu Star or are you expecting it to come in?

Fav seems to be drifting so worth keeping an eye on the outsiders.

    Johnbo, you’re right.

I’ve actually been thinking, the next time I have a bumper month, i.e make 2k or more (hasnt happened in a while), I’m going to put £500 of that profit aside and just bet with it.

Noble Gesture has just steamed in just as I was saying that…. I stuck £5 on at 100.0 on the exchange.

Was about to back at 67.0 at WH when it dropped to 20.0

Dont blame me if it doesnt come in some more but if it was me, I would still take Lulu at 26.0 now.

I’m assuming the 13.0 Bet365 are offering is a palp but some wild variance in prices on Noble Gesture.
