New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

How is anybody getting on anything in the 20:10? Their is zilch liquidity on anything expect the favourite.
+0It’s Irish, liquidity comes very late. Although the odds drift on all except the top 2 is strange.
+0Betfair SB:
Glens DD at 101, edge it and reduces the places to 2 and the odds go to 251, for effective odds on the win of 157.
Laying at 90.+0Jesus squirmed out of that. Note to self get on the 2nd fav if this situation comes up again! Bloody Irish.
+0Damn you Celtic Monarch!- 3rd!
+0Stumbled across the 8.10 by looking to use the one freebet I had to turnover whilst away
Both my horses failed to place so lost a little on commission. Tad confused by the above comments…. guessing Betfair edge has merged into bad each way races, otherwise 16 ran with 4 places paid+0Get regular offer updates, tip and tricks, big offer alerts and more straight to your inbox.
I tuned in late as it was Ireland and was on a previous race. What I saw was mental.
1) I have never seen a 16+ handicap that pays 4 places with an odds on favourite ever.
2) I was hoping to ew arb a couple of horses and lay on the 3 TBP market as this would have covered any late withdrawals and basically would have turned it into an extra place race. However, I did not see a single chance in the last few minutes maybe there were some earlier in the day but with the risk of non runners it didn’t seem worth it.
3) Some of the ew races recently have made me realise how much normal punters get mugged. If they are backing win only on 20/1s then the exchange was having them at 3x the price. If they are an each way type of punter where they always back horses each way regardless of the number of runners or market conditions then I would say that 98% of the time they give value to the bookies. It just seems sad. I have managed to talk one mate into using an exchange a lot more often. I just said compare the decimals and if they are close back with the bookie because of BOG and commission but if the decimals are far out then back with the exchange. A few times he has been amazed at the difference in prices on even the typical horse race.
+01) nor me but I assumed they came up, you saying that suggests it’s once in a blue moon
2) 2nd fav was available at 8s with some bookies less than an hour before. I considered the 3tbp market, but never fancied the price and got closer to the off where a withdrawal was so unlikely fo4 a jump race
3) the races you’re looking at are typically bad each way races? So a bit of both, the exchange is inflated by us guys so value on the win part – the bookies hold back because of the each way part so reduce value. The exchange is nearly always better (bog / rule 4 aside) but bad each way races will always exaggerate that+0Agree Beesty, it’s the SP prices when people tune in within 5 minutes of the off when mugs come out to play they slash like hell. I tell people to get on races an hour before the off but they see a price they take it, for example this race the SP was 20/1 and they’d be buzzing but little do they know that at exactly the same time they could get over 60/1 on exchanges…
Anyway, lost £7 on one and gained £9 on another but the drift in all horses except the 2nd fav was ridiculous, usually in bad ew they come in on exchange and prices cut at the bookies. Confused? Wy aye.
+0@betman I think so previously the lowest I’ve seen is around 6/4 on a horse to win a race where 4 plus paid. Also agree with what you say but think bookies should offer a win only market. I know coral used to if you ticked the button and I guess there is no reason why they couldn’t have gone to 33/1 win only on the winner. @felttip is correct with mates etc who would be buzzing seeing 20/1 and all those prices and then being excited if they picked the winner.
Sometimes with these it’s simply the favourite is too short for it to work.
+0How did you not all get on Celtic monach??? 81/90 for win 21/7.8 i laid place… but went down to around 5.0 and win went to 70…. i only managed £20ew to make £140 and i only laid £12 in win and £40 on place…. if won it would have been extra £500 or so… never overlay place so gutted but still nice for £20ew…. could have got 100/1 if you still had a paddy account…. all the group smashed that little beaut!!
+0Nice one t, I did see movement down that end but pretty late by which time bookies had cut to ring prices, guess you got on while it was only just an arb and it came in nice? £120 I make it so if it was a gamble it paid off!
+0Unfortunately they are super risky as 8 runners and its still early morning but 3.40 Sandown and 5.25 Yarmouth are absolute crackers on paper.
+017:25 non-runner now 2 places 1/4 odds
+0Made £50 on the 3.40 race with High Draw coming in third.
