Bad EW Races NO CHAT

  • Right an idea I got from oddsmonkey, we post the daily bad EW races on here with no chat or discussion, plenty of topics for that. Think this thread will help us all in case you don’t think it will just skip this please ?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

An interesting story to say the least. It causes all sorts of issues – not least of which what do the exchanges do for those who have laid this horse – I’d be up in arms and threatening legal action if my money was not returned.

    Pretty random and amusing story.

Legal action against who? The results official and the exchanges have to follow that, it’s an extreme cock up but akin to threatening legal action because of an ineligible player in football or a rule not being followed correctly.

Maybe i should take legal action because I lost 150 today on a late withdrawal in the 2:15 at Yarmouth. Could it have been the correct runner who knows? No in all seriousness racing and matched betting does seem to throw up the odd random sceneraio. Thankfully I feel we are well protected on the whole.

Things to make things better no gubbings and for bookies to follow international racing where they commit to pay out the places in terms of late non runners.

Any legal action would be against the exchange, assuming they have not already made an adjustment? – lets not forget some bookies have said they will recognise the ‘correct’ winner by paying out 1st and 2nd.

Any way fortunately I did not lay the horse concerned so don’t have to worry about threatening any exchange. That said taking the matter thro’ the small claims court would be an interesting exercise in order to see what ruling the court would make.

The 2:30 looks best today, maybe the 19:00 and 19:05 too but nothing amazing.

Hoping the King George stakes tomorrow will be a cracking EW race

How are you going to sue the exchange? Their rules would be based on official results which they have followed. They would cease to function if they had to pay out both sides of anything punters may deem unfair.

The bookies paying out both is just another variant on first past post which can work in our favour with a back and lay both winning.

betman – you are probably right but its not really based on ‘fairness’ as such more on the fact the horse that won was not the horse that it was said to be.

For me that would be an interesting case to test in a court of law – I suspect the exchanges will have covered this sort of thing in their small print but you never know!

As to the winners in respect of this issue then all I can say is that in the past I have had winnings taken away from me after having been paid out so it’s not unprecedented to be debited back a day later – I cannot now remember why this was – but it happened to me on a couple of occasions.

To sum up I suspect any claimant would probably lose but there is always the chance the firm concerned might pay up to make you ‘go away’ based on the fact its more expensive to defend. I have won a small claims case (a totally totally different situation admittedly) in the past because the cost of defending would have been more expensive for the defendant, given the cost of paying a firm of solicitors.

Hopefully no one on this forum got burned as a result of what happened with this 50-1 shot.

I’d say it’s unlikely. We’ve probably all seen the crazy wins on our freebets to know better than laying without backing, or overlaying things like that.

With the on course cash bookies I guess there’s only a small window before the result is official, then whatever bizarreness follows has to stand.
Be interesting to see what sanctions are taken, I’m sure it was a genuine error…. but is pretty bad for the integrity of the sport if this kind thing can happen

188 and 365 offering 1/4 odds on the 15:35. Anyone else?

I think that’s an error mate. both 188 and Sun Bets are saying 1/4 on their respective websites – still good though!

One worry I have with this race is the place market seems fairly well formed already. Do we still expect the place odds to drop?
