Hard to calculate the 2nd odds for sure TP! I mean an even money shot in a 10 horse race (50% Win) obviously isnt 50% to come 2nd!. Not really worth baffling ones head with the calculations. Suffice to say its pretty clear if you back and lay pretty close and the odds are say for eg below 8-1 in a 8 horse race (2nd chance somewhere beetween 10-15%)- then you are defientaly on to a profitable long term bet and calculating the exact maths would be pointless/head damaging and timewasting!. The shorter the odds/fields the better it gets. Counting the cash profit at the end of the day/week is the only maths worth doing on these! and most other ‘bets’ that are obviously profitable.
The only thing I would add is that any ‘bet’ that is obviously long term profitable-then the less(no lay is the best) You lay on the exchange the better(if you can afford to go through periods of losses)

Surely if people are gonna moan about what topics/chat crop up on here and long for pure bad e/w info. Then surely that would mean dont mention how much you have just won/going to clear out from your accounts/being gubbed/ even to what your gonna spend all the dosh on- ie holidays etc etc

Saw that…. had the 4th but not for extra place.

Made a decent bit on that race as had to half lay my places due to exchange taking another massive hit earlier.

Hit 2nd and 4th at big prices.

N1 bob. Crap day here! all me mb2nds are coming 3rd! Need an extra place to come in in the 520(or a 2nd!). Got quite a few well matched atm

Scabadab. I had some data on horse racing results a while back. It’s totally out of date now.

But when I looked at it for horses sp 8/1 9% won and 11% were second.

For evens 43% won 26% were second.

For 6/4 64% won and 20% second.

I have a little table. Obviously number of horses in race makes a difference but I just broke it down by SP.

Everything 10/1 and shorter had 10% or greater chance of second.

Everything 3/1 and shorter had 20% or greater chance of second.

More or less.
