Tough day today, decided not to bother with the 14.55. 15.50 has some big outsiders but fighting over one place with the first 2 nailed on 1-2 (of course a 100/1 shot will win now).

Very hard to get an early arb in most of the Irish races Andy. Most of the time (if you think there is possible ew value) you need to get on when the market starts moving- a bit before show prices come up-. When I took the 28s on that one myself it was about 25.0 on the ew tab- so only a small arb at time- but money coming combined wiith some form/decent weite ups suggested every chance it could end up shorter/unlikely to drift back out
    Cheers mate.
Just sad I didnt put in the naps- as have had a few treading water days on them in terms of places- and although profits are still very good on the naps ..that would have been a lovely boost and only the 2nd winner! In over 50/60 naps🙃

Could someone help explain where I went wrong on First Destination? Had a few semi successful days doing this and now feeling maybe it was better luck than judgement?

Dunno mate- was busy/not focused on that race and didnt notice that horses price.
Was it ever ew arbing on the ew tab?

Sometimes even if it was an ew arb at some point- it could of course drift in price by the time you get oppurtunity to lay of the place- leaving you with a negative lay on the place/win
Not that often you can lay off early both the win and the place- most times you have to wait for at least part of the lay. So often no guarntees of a free shotat prof.
As long as it was an ew arb at time of bet (no good if only pennies in the market at time of bet though) then u did nowt wrong

    Thanks for that Scabba~

It was, but admittedly not by much.

What I am struggling with is, even when it is arbing on the each way tab, doesn’t mean that the bookies odds will be anywhere near the exchange.

So I assume just to keep an eye on that horse and when there is an acceptable qualifying loss, then place the bet. Rather than placing the bet and hoping the lay odds come in?

I think I need to re-evaluate. I have got lucky this week placing bets on horses that were arbing on the each way tab, not laying either side and seeing a great swing in my favour to get heavy arbs on both win and place.

But today I got caught, thankfully for small stakes.

    I really apprecaite your input.

Maybe there was very little liquidity when I placed the bet and I got ahead of myself.

Do you see drifts go against you often? Just take it on the chin and carry on? Or is there something you do slightly more educated?

14.00 Ludlow should be good with 13.40 Thurles and 18.00 Chelmsford possibles.
