Betfair Exchange racing offer

Just wondering whether anyone has dabbled with this – the back a horse at 4.0 or higher and get your money back if it goes odds on in play then loses?

I’ve always left this alone on the basis that it was unlikely to be profitable based on frequency of it occurring, one you factor in the slightly higher lay odds and commission. Anyone have any thoughts or experiences with this?

Also, any issue with qualifying if you’re gubbed on SB?

Ali – perhaps i wasnt clear in my post. You place your qualifying bets as usual in accordance with the terms. But once the race is underway you can lock in profits IF your backed horse goes odds on by placing a second back bet.

If he wins – you win your back bet.

if he doesnt win – you get your refund

Chance to lock in some small profits if you feel your horse cant lose!!

does anyone else underlay on smarkets? when you get to higher odds you add about 7p to your QL, but breakeven if the horse wins – which if that happens you wont be getting the refund anyway?

The idea of backing in running wouldn’t be anymore profitable. You should end up less profitable with that method because of the added commission.
Unless of course your 1.7 for example should be 1.50.

How long after the race do they usually credit the refund?

Usual 2 hours. I actually hit one today breaking my run around 12 without hitting one.

0/10 over the last three days. About £5 down as a result. Based on frequency that everyone is hitting refunds I think this has potential to be profitable in the long term, but only on a small scale (which is fine for me).

It helps that I am currently on 2% commission with betfair. If it goes back up to 5% then it might be a different story – would need more of an underlay to negate the comission if the horse wins.

Will keep plugging away – only a couple of minutes a day required

It was a promo offer that popped up when I logged on, back at the start of August. Offered 2% commission on all sports markets from 2 August to 20 October. It’s still showing as accepted on my promo page.

No idea why, or what I did to get it. Don’t think that was ever communicated…
