Betfair Each Way edge
-
So I just noticed this gizmo.
On betfair when you are placing an each way bet you can adjust the terms if you want.
For example I can bet on Top Tug in Catterick 14:20 today odds 3.25. Standard place terms are 1/5 odds, 3 places.
This is almost value as you’re getting odds 3.25/1.45 for the win/place(3) on the bookie and the lays are at 3.7/1.27 on the exchange.
BUT
If I toggle the Each Way Edge widget to only pay two places then this will increase the odds to 4.33! Giving 4.33/1.67 for the win/place(2), where the lays are 3.7/1.59 (2 to place). Which is better value.
Maybe its something someone wants to look into, but at least at first glance on this example looks like you can stretch the value you get e/w arbing by using the edge.
Anyone use this feature regularly?

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

and 200 cork
+0I backed Reaver when it was at 8.0/8.0 early this morning so efectively it worked out at 7.87/8.0 and then an outsider, Moonlightnavigator @ 26/30 so 29.12/30 with edge. Only had a few quid on that one though as the liquidity wasn’t there.
+0Churchill is interesting in Newmarket 15:35.
You can get odds of 2.37 for 1/5 1-2-3-4-5. FIVE places.
There is no lay for five place but 4 places is at 1.18 at the moment making that an arb 2.37/2.42 win and 1.27/1.18 to place. Then a bumper payout if finishes 5th. But thats on betfair and if your trying to keep you betfair account healthy then dont back on sportsbook and lay on exchange..
So you could also lay the place on smarkets for a small QL giving effective odds of 10/1 for 4th or 5th place (there are three other horses there with decent odds so presumably they could beat him, I know alot are long long prices though so maybe its not the best effective odds.)
Either way I think there is some value there, even just small stake punt.
I’ve combined with Bet365 where there are a number of ew arbs right now (they are price promise AND enhanced terms). So small stakes on almost all runners there I haven’t bothered laying anything. I’d be unlucky if nothing came in.
+0Oddschecker is crap today, seems to be about 10 minutes behind.
+0I still think the 2.20 is good. The favourite is a non runner so a largish Rule 4 has kicked in on the bets I placed last night but even with that, Washington DC and Goldream are big arbs on the prices I took last night.
Lots of other horses top priced at Betfair too, seems like my restrictions have been lifted too.
+0I guess if you have a regular account that gets BOG then might be just better taking the arb now on straight win on the normal price and hope he drifts. He’s an ew arb possibility as well at 2.5 normal price. He seems to be drifting, but I’m expecting him to come back in. I see it all the time when the favs drift a little early in the day and then are smashed in before the off.

FoG – theres no BOG on ew edge bets.
xeno – I’ve never been restricted that badly but its a gubbed account and last night I could only get £21 ew on a 17.0 horse, today I can get the full £60 ew I wanted.
+0Thats what I mean Chris. Instead of going edge, there might be value in taking 2.5/2.44 arb and hoping he drifts and wins.
More bookies are going 2.5 on him now. The exchange price maybe just low because everyone trying to lay off the boost. I am starting to think he is going to drift.
Thats when an ew edge bet is no good because no BOG, so maybe just take 2.5/2.44.
+0xeno about the same for me. Small stake on favs like a fiver and happened within a week.
But this is a Saturday and a big meeting in Newmarket. They let me 60ew on Churchill although only get a few pound ew on the horses in Cork 200
+0Kimberella in the 2.20
+0Think that will be my lot on this today, dont want to abuse it too much, too quickly.
+0Cheers Chris I am guessing u arent getting much value though as the edge is 17s and the lay price 12.5 I make that effective odds of 17.3 when I guess the true odds maybe 12?
+0in fact scrap that its 1/5 odds so effective odds 11.5, no value IMO
