Betfair Each Way edge

So I just noticed this gizmo.

On betfair when you are placing an each way bet you can adjust the terms if you want.

For example I can bet on Top Tug in Catterick 14:20 today odds 3.25. Standard place terms are 1/5 odds, 3 places.

This is almost value as you’re getting odds 3.25/1.45 for the win/place(3) on the bookie and the lays are at 3.7/1.27 on the exchange.

BUT

If I toggle the Each Way Edge widget to only pay two places then this will increase the odds to 4.33! Giving 4.33/1.67 for the win/place(2), where the lays are 3.7/1.59 (2 to place). Which is better value.

Maybe its something someone wants to look into, but at least at first glance on this example looks like you can stretch the value you get e/w arbing by using the edge.

Anyone use this feature regularly?

I’ve been gubbed by BF SB so thinking might as well have a go at this today. I see on the first race at York there are a few good shots at winning a decent amount if your horse comes 2nd for just a few pennies loss for any other result , will I be able to get on 3 or 4 horses do you think? Or is there a better race to focus on? never tried this before so want to max my potential return as one last BF SB hurrah!

On my test I finished 2nd in the first race, how will this work out if matched betted for bigger stakes?

After knocking up a wee spreadsheet to determine value and QL, I took my first stab at this today too and hit the golden 2nd place in 2 of the 3 races I did, so a fantastic start! ?

My account is already gubbed but I’m also curious how long a restriction will take if I up the stakes from £10 e/w to something like £50 e/w?

I would go in hard Tony. I did small stakes like 5 ew for a while and that’s all I did. Was still restricted to zero.

You’ll regret it if you do 10 ew and are restricted at the end of the week when you could have been doing 50 or more.

Interesting, thanks for replying Fog. Sounds like it’s more the number of bets placed as opposed to the stakes being used then?

Were you covering multiple horses in the same race? Roughly how many races do you think you got through before restrictions hit?

I have other Betfair accounts I can turn to, but they are thus far ungubbed so I’d rather not use them for now.

I did 5 horses in each race if there was value and mostly there was. Maybe lasted a few weeks but in the last week was heavily restricted until now max zero stake. Most days did one race if I could.

I think what also they didn’t like is that I would take the early prices, even the night before and hoping for non runners in 16 runner races.

You might blend in better just going in close to the off and just high profile races.

wait until your bankroll is big enough and max bet smash the absolute balls off it

you will get restricted, everybody does, restrictions are are much more severe than a month ago

but take advantage as much as you can

no more edge for me for time being, latest account i had have restricted hit loads of firsts too

i have one active left and it allows £500 ew, i am going to build my bankroll over next few months ever bigger hopefully then smash the balls off that one when the right race comes along

I got more bets on this then I thought.

So after checking my account my first ew edge bet was 15th April. I went low stakes to stay under the radar. 2.50 ew. 210 bets later on May 1st I was reatricted to a couple of Euro. 40 bets after that on May 9th I was done.

I just think 5 times €210 bets would probably have been better use of the offer than 210 times €5 bets. Ah well I didn’t know at the time that even small stakes would get me kicked out.
