Betfair Each Way edge

  • So I just noticed this gizmo.

On betfair when you are placing an each way bet you can adjust the terms if you want.

For example I can bet on Top Tug in Catterick 14:20 today odds 3.25. Standard place terms are 1/5 odds, 3 places.

This is almost value as you’re getting odds 3.25/1.45 for the win/place(3) on the bookie and the lays are at 3.7/1.27 on the exchange.

    BUT

If I toggle the Each Way Edge widget to only pay two places then this will increase the odds to 4.33! Giving 4.33/1.67 for the win/place(2), where the lays are 3.7/1.59 (2 to place). Which is better value.

Maybe its something someone wants to look into, but at least at first glance on this example looks like you can stretch the value you get e/w arbing by using the edge.

    Anyone use this feature regularly?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

The 2.20 has turned into a right old mess with the NRs- my bets have been reduced to 1 place edge- look to be set to return large amounts on BF but no idea whether the odds in the cash-out screen reflect the rule4 reductions? If they don’t then I’m on for a massive arb based on my updated liability in smarkets.

Can someone advise at all/ done the same?

U would come out massively up I believe if u do this offer and the runners reduce it down to 1 place, that is if the horse wins. Ive not been so lucky myself tho so maybe someone else can advise

Fog, I think for the few weeks in April you could still get away with it, restrictions did not affect me at all, but then from May things definitely changed, I have been restricted much quicker on the other accounts that only started in May

If informed by Betfair that you are no longer entitled to Sportsbook promotions does that include using the EDGE?

No, you can still use e/w edge when gubbed

Thanks Tony, much appreciated. I was going to try using it with small stakes just in case.

The 14:40 at Hexham could be good.. I’ve gone for a couple, fingers crossed for one more non-runner!

The 17.50 at Epsom also has a few decent matches, I went for Naggers, Blaine and B fifty two. 17 runners atm.

There are three 4 place races at Navan today too, all with a lot of runners!

If anyone still has an unrestricted Betfair account, the 5pm at Ascot tomorrow is a 5 place race.

When I looked just now you can only reduce the place to 3..!

    Still some value there:-

GK Chesterton is 19.0, which enhances to 29.0 (3 places), which is an effective 18.5 on the win.

So a bet of £10 e/w and a lay of £19.49 at Smarkets at 19 would be a qualifying loss of 90p for a chance of £79.10 if second or third..

Where are you seeing 5 places?

5pm tomorrow at Ascot on Betfair SB.

It was showing 5 places earlier and it’s showing as 5 places now.

(I have seen Betfair SB 5 place races go back to 4 for no reason and then back to 5 again later – that happened at the Grand National this year)

They cut big time. Yday evening I was allowed 4k win on ascot, which was highest for ages.
I took a shot at the edge (maybe didn’t help I called pricewise pick early last night), and had a decent chunk of other stuff to try and hide it. I lost a reasonable amount as sportsbook sees it, but down to a 1k win tonight
It’s like one go at Edge is the naughty step, then a bit of time (even normal and Eway arbs) and they let u back off it

So even tho when placing your bet it says 3 places…your bet history reads just 2nd place :/

Assume one of us will it 3rd place today so an update here on what happens might be useful for the rest of the week

I hit a second but as my stakes are so tiny I didn’t bother laying = an overall loss for me.

My bets are all showing as ew three places…

Betfair are being very generous with their Edge option on the 16.20 and 17.35* at Ascot today..

Both races are 4 places and 1/5 odds… But the enhancement is better than usual..

There are a lot of qualifying profits for the chance of hitting a second.

    Looking at the 16.20:-

Magical Memory at 9 enhances to 17 with 2 places, which is an effective 10.6 if it wins. Laying at 9.4.

Tasleet at 8.5 enhances to 16 with 2 places, an effective 10 on the win. Laying at 9.2.

I have backed 8 in the 16.20 so far (all were qualifying profits)…

*The 17.35 has been switching between 4 places and 3 places all morning. It might be a glitch with Betfair’s systems as I’ve noticed this before when the places are unusual. It’s showing 3 places at the moment.
