My theory beyond matched betting

  • Hi all have not posted in a while and have seen the forum collapse due to the lack of offers. My online career is all but over now due to being gubbed in the last week by my last few standing accounts. Anyway people will want to argue this but over the last month I turned a 4K bankroll into 21k by something called each way arbing.

The basic jist of this is to pick races with 8,9 16-20 runners and backing certain horses each way. It always works in fields of 16-20 runners where 4 are paid and works in the 8 or 9 especially when there are 2 or 3 outsiders or an odds on favourite.

For example I put 100 ew on a 12/1 shot on bet365 in a 17 runner race. I am looking to lay at 13 on betfair. Let the lay match and as soon as it has take the 12/1. Current position is your down a max of 5 pounds on bf commission. (Use smarkets if you wish)

Then go on the place markets and lay the horse. The odds on 365 are 3/1 (4) as a 1/4 of the odds. On betfair this should be lower and often trading around 3.3/3.4. This means you can play about with the numbers to make a profit but say i lay 120 @ 3.4 to lose 288 I can make around 12-14 on this part after commission. Therefore I’m around a tenner up before the race regardless of what happens.

As my bankroll got bigger I got better at it by doing multiple horses in races and laying the places 3 mins before the start of the race. people can say what they want about me being 17k up from it but I know I have made this money and the theory works if you are sharp at maths can react quickly to mental calculations and I know a few people on here would be able to do it.

Good luck to those who go for it. I will be spending some time at mates houses over the summer and taking a 50 50 cut for the use of their name.

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Interesting. I was looking at Poet when he was at 15 at the bookies. The place was already good value but the win lay never got below 16 at the exchange. The first show was 7.5 I think and I was looking at the odds predicting they would come in. However they never did whilst I was watching and then the bookie odds dropped to 13 so I left it. Beesty said he laid the win immediately so I didn’t want to deviate from the strategy.

I guess if you think a horse is about to stream you could risk not laying it immediately knowing that if it does drift, you can cover your win lay losses by the value still in the place lay? In this case, leaving the win lay was a great shout as the predicted steam happened and Dingo was quids in…!!

I didn’t leave the win lay,I layed at 16 but at that point the place part was already at 3!Jeez if I had layed at 8 would of made 100’s!Then it kept coming in and did another bookies when it went dwn to 11.

I definitely left it all too late. Backing poets song was 8 on William hill when I was looking, didn’t see prices of anything like 11 – 15. Will start looking 10 – 15 mins earlier. I am happy I know what I am doing, just getting the timings right. Cheers.

I’m struggling to see any suitable races today.

    2.30 and 3.00 at Thirsk?

I had the 1430 Thirsk. Then maybe 1425 and 1655 Listowel, 1420 Yarmouth.
The 1425 Listowel is only 2 places for 6 runners but 2 are massive outsides and one is also an outsider but not as big.
1655 Listowel is 4 places for 17 runners. 12 of those odds of 15+ ATM. 2 favourites and 2 priced at 8 and 9.

Think I will struggle to get any on today, have kids again grrrrr!

Just so I am clear on this in my head…are we looking to back a horse either way around 30 mins prior to the off? Then we lay the the horse to win at the same time and lay the place closer to the off? Only thing I am unsure of is the time to back horse EW / lay win.

    Cheers

I start watching the odds 30 mins before post. I monitor the exchange odds and bookie odds and place the EW bet whenever the win lay is close to/matches the bookie odds. Lay the win immediately. This may be 30 mins before post or perhaps closer. Beesty is saying to then wait for the place lay about 2 mins from post.

I think that’s pretty general tho and the key is to just monitor it all closely.

That all said, I’m no expert.

You seem to have more of an idea than me ;-p I will have got the hang of this by the time someone comes up with something new!

Quitting your job to do E/W arbs sounds like a really smart move. Well done!

If he can make the money he was whilst working and having the reassurance of being able walk straight back into his job then why not.

Personally I only do it for the extra cash. If I didn’t have mortgage, bills and had a nice sum of money in the bank I would consider it myself

Johnson it sounds more like he has taken a break from the job and also sounds like he is making more money per day doing this.

When he is fully restricted the door seems to be open.

Obviously I would generally advise against it, but every situation is different, the lad seems to have a handle on it and not really for us to comment.

Of course depends on how happy you are in your job.

Anfass a right steamer in the 3.00

    And it won lol

Wonder if anyone caught that one, especially if did not lay the place that would be a right result

Fog he gave up his job. He said so himself.

This has to be one of the worst ideas I’ve seen on this forum. Online bookies will ban you quickly if you’re making any kind of consistent profits.

If he then tries to take this into shops, he will face a lot more problems. Good luck trying to get £50 on E/W in shops. Staff will find it suspicious if you haggle over small changes in the odds on E/W bets as well.

One thing that does puzzle me is he said he only needs £50 a day to make his old pay. That’s £13k a year pre-tax.

If you’re including weekends, £50 a day is more like £22k pre-tax (more if you have student loan/pension deductions)..

Would you work 7 days a week for £22k?
