My theory beyond matched betting

  • Hi all have not posted in a while and have seen the forum collapse due to the lack of offers. My online career is all but over now due to being gubbed in the last week by my last few standing accounts. Anyway people will want to argue this but over the last month I turned a 4K bankroll into 21k by something called each way arbing.

The basic jist of this is to pick races with 8,9 16-20 runners and backing certain horses each way. It always works in fields of 16-20 runners where 4 are paid and works in the 8 or 9 especially when there are 2 or 3 outsiders or an odds on favourite.

For example I put 100 ew on a 12/1 shot on bet365 in a 17 runner race. I am looking to lay at 13 on betfair. Let the lay match and as soon as it has take the 12/1. Current position is your down a max of 5 pounds on bf commission. (Use smarkets if you wish)

Then go on the place markets and lay the horse. The odds on 365 are 3/1 (4) as a 1/4 of the odds. On betfair this should be lower and often trading around 3.3/3.4. This means you can play about with the numbers to make a profit but say i lay 120 @ 3.4 to lose 288 I can make around 12-14 on this part after commission. Therefore I’m around a tenner up before the race regardless of what happens.

As my bankroll got bigger I got better at it by doing multiple horses in races and laying the places 3 mins before the start of the race. people can say what they want about me being 17k up from it but I know I have made this money and the theory works if you are sharp at maths can react quickly to mental calculations and I know a few people on here would be able to do it.

Good luck to those who go for it. I will be spending some time at mates houses over the summer and taking a 50 50 cut for the use of their name.

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Good for you. I am on the way to look into this a bit more after been doing other stuff for years but i am a bit scared for the non runners that can come at the last minute, i cant afford to get my bank wiped out just by pure bad luck the first thing that happen (and yes, it can happen) but i would love to hear how you do to make that kind of profit every day if you dont mind ?

Well done on your wins Supert, but the Irish Caesarwich or any high profile race is easy compared to a 3 card Tuesday or similar. Hope you have as much luck on the normal days.

Thanks for all your replies folks. It makes sense now. So this can e/w betting can be pretty profitable but one unlucky non runner and you might hit a bit of a big loss.

I think i might stick to races with 10 runners that are paying 1/4 odds. Profits might not be as big. But would have to be really unlucky to have two horses pulled out just before the off.
Maybe Jump racing would be bet for this as well. Because you don’t have those pesky stalls to worry about and they seem a lot more stricter now with horses that won’t go in. Also unless the rules have changed over the jumps. If the tape goes up and the horses refuse to move it is still classed as a runner and not a non-runner.

Dont get me wrong ive been bitten a few times where there has been fun at the gates and a non runner has stung me but the good times outweigh the bad!
I think ive mentioned in other posts i never standard lay on these ew arbs… i always underlay… meaning if the horse doesnt place i only break even…. ive def made far more and had more success using this method… yeah sometimes i could have taken £10-£20 profit but the horse unplaces so break even but you are getting such good value on the place usually that there are far greater rewards when the horse places and you have underlaid!!
Like others i only lay the place during the show prices close to the off … but am usually on the right horse that gets backed because i will only back a horse at the top price offered by the bookies!
Its all about timing when to back and lay at the right time which can involve checking betfair/smarkets/oddschecker quite often and back/lay the win part when an opportunity appears…. what may be a good opp 1 minute may not be a few mins later on the same horse even if its price hasnt changed!
Anyway good luck guys…. btw didnt find 1 opp today but hit the b365 winner 4pm with my 50 free from the irish national and another win arb so a good day still!!

As a newbie i’m going to have a go at this with v small stakes. (10.00ew)
So I’ve backed and layed the win part at 7.0/7.2.
What odds should I be looking to lay the place part?
The race is 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3.
    Is it 7/5= 1.4 as a max?
    Thanks for any help.

There were a few Crispy. Irish racing on a Sunday seems to be great for this. Either have big fields or have a huge heavy fave and a donkey.

I’ll bear that in mind Dan.
The missus will not be pleased, it’s hard enough getting her to let me bet on a Saturday!

That was a good race Supert – quite a few opportunities.
