SMARKETS – 'not fit for purpose'
-
The new platform is an absolute disgrace.
It sticks
It freezes
It shows prices that aren’t there
It doesn’t shows prices that are thereI have sent them an email to express my disappointment with the ‘upgrade’.
I know others have spoken to them on the phone and they are just not bothered.
Seriously considering removing my custom from them and just suck up the extra 3% commission with bfex.Thoughts?
Anyone else contacted them?+0April 14, 2017 at 7:52 pm

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

0% commission all weekend
+0Yeah, I saw that. Just wonder how long today before the site crashes. I’d rather pay the 2% and have realibilty than 0% and crashes every 5 minutes.
+0It’s still glitchy even now.
+0Aaaaaaaaand we’re down again ….ffs
Moments after receiving their grovelling email on 0% comms. For the love of God, doesn’t really make a difference if you can’t bloody bet.
+0That’s me done with them … not having the stress of wondering if a bet has actually gine through. Put one on and it said ‘pending’ for ages despite there being funds there in the market. Amateurs I’m afraid. They’re probably running out of a garage somewhere.
+0They’ve been running a refer a friend for £10 offer the last week or so as well. Not the best time to recommend it to someone!
+0It’ll take ages for them to sort out their new website. It’ll be up and down on busy periods like last night and today for a good few weeks I’d imagine.
+0Get regular offer updates, tip and tricks, big offer alerts and more straight to your inbox.
What is so damn crazy about it is that the old desktop site was the quickest and easiest to navigate exchange. They had their moments when the site went down but overall it was a very solid site.
They would have been making a LOT of money.
They have IGNORED customers for months regarding the abysmal new website and
offering 0% commission all weekend is a sign they’ve lost customers…people will be leaving in their droves.Quite frankly, it bamboozles my mind!!
+0Totally agree Johnbo. The old site was quick as lightning and simple to use which is all you want.
+0Liquidity has been crap today on the horses.
+0Skipped the horses today because yeah the liquidity was shit but at least managed to get a 4 Means More lay on the draw and a £50 free bet. Cheers Watford.
+0No longer ‘in association with’
Can’t moan at Matt for them not dealing with anything on here now. Be interesting if Matt has anything to say on the switch…. or if he concluded they weren’t that great and Betfair paid a similar (or greater) amount of money to him
I’ll still move back to smarkets as my first port of call for less fluid markets when my 2%Betfair commission expires, the commission difference does add up if you aren’t compromised by liquidity/reliability
+0There are pros and cons to both exchanges, so it’s just a matter of personal preference. Some will prefer Betfair and others will prefer Smarkets. I’ll get a page sorted comparing the two.
With regards to the switch, I’ve received a fair amount of criticism in recent months following the technical difficulties Smarkets have suffered. Obviously they’re the cheaper option when you compare the commission rates, however, reliability is probably the most important criteria for newbies and that’s where Betfair stand out.
Don’t get me wrong though, I’m still a big fan of Smarkets.
+0Wow…..didn’t notice the switch but it’s a good one.
I’ve always used Betfair and have never had a problem. The site is much better and faster since the upgrade…..well done Matt!!
