SMARKETS – 'not fit for purpose'

The new platform is an absolute disgrace.

It sticks
It freezes
It shows prices that aren’t there
It doesn’t shows prices that are there

I have sent them an email to express my disappointment with the ‘upgrade’.
I know others have spoken to them on the phone and they are just not bothered.
Seriously considering removing my custom from them and just suck up the extra 3% commission with bfex.

Thoughts?
Anyone else contacted them?

I hate the new site too – it’s a huge backward step from the previous one, which is not the way these things are supposed to go. The mobile site is pretty awful too, especially on Android, when it can be so slow as to be unusable.

As others have said, the 2% commission is their USP, but it only takes a couple of poorly-timed failures to wipe out the savings. Luckily I’ve not yet been screwed-over by them, but every time I find myself laying close to the off I get a bit nervous.

So after posting recently that I’ve found Smarkets to be ok I’ve now come across some issues. The app on my phone won’t even open now and just crashes as soon as I try to open it and I’ve noticed today that liquidity seems way down on quite a few markets.

As it happens I’ve been using Betfair to make the most of the Cash Race but Smarkets will need to sort this out before I go back.

Same happened to me. Uninstall and reinstall the app. Worked for me but it would be better if this didn’t happen!

The new layout on desktop looks ok, used it today and didn’t find any faults with it.

The tbp market now has the worst liquidity I have ever known. I know many people in thevgroup that won’t touch that now.

Even the win market for horses is poor, use to be ok.

The app does crash even though I have reinstalledited it.

Pbetts I agree, Smarkets place market liquidity is an absolute farce at the moment.

I went through the entire day today with matchbook open alongside smarkets and the extra profit available at matchbook on the place markets was ridiculous. There are loads of arb opportunities you simply cannot take at smarkets because there is no liquidity…

In fact, in one race today I was actually able to load up on a back bet 3 times at 1.93 on smarkets when it was laying at 1.80 on matchbook!!

I still find smarkets useful as the win odds are still decent and I believe the desktop version is the quickest/easiest to navigate exchange, but once they upgrade fully to the new software…I don’t see how they carry on as too many people will bet elsewhere.

From the online reviews of Matchbook, it seems a reasonable option from a usability and liquidity point of view, but withdrawing money seems to be a nightmare.

Any forum users had trouble?

I used to bet with matchbook loads until they suddenly out of the blue started charging me 2% to withdraw.

Worst thing was they gave me no notice of this charge. Bunch of crooks. Haven’t used them since.

Tried placing a bet on the 15:10 then the money vanished! Still no lay money and we are 10mins from the off. Ridiculous
