Betfair Each Way edge
-
So I just noticed this gizmo.
On betfair when you are placing an each way bet you can adjust the terms if you want.
For example I can bet on Top Tug in Catterick 14:20 today odds 3.25. Standard place terms are 1/5 odds, 3 places.
This is almost value as you’re getting odds 3.25/1.45 for the win/place(3) on the bookie and the lays are at 3.7/1.27 on the exchange.
BUT
If I toggle the Each Way Edge widget to only pay two places then this will increase the odds to 4.33! Giving 4.33/1.67 for the win/place(2), where the lays are 3.7/1.59 (2 to place). Which is better value.
Maybe its something someone wants to look into, but at least at first glance on this example looks like you can stretch the value you get e/w arbing by using the edge.
Anyone use this feature regularly?

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Nope don’t place anymore bets. But the bets you got on earlier are now more valuable. You are left with all your stake on the win at the enhanced price. So from the example you mentioned earlier you have £20 on the win at 16.0. Leaving you with a decent arb.
+016.20 is down to 15 runners. So try the 16.55 as well.
+0I actually went bigger stakes than the example, I went £40 total stake on the 16 and £40 stake on one at 13 as well, does this mean that for the £40 @ 16 I stand to get £640 minus the liability of £376?
+0Yeah just check your bet to confirm. Should be updated on betfair. Not sure if there was a rule 4 or not?
+0Yikes I would have had worse days if it comes in lol :)
Yep bet slip confirms that it is £40 @ 16 ew terms 1/1 odds 1 place.
Now could you all keep your fingers crossed for either balko des flos or last goodbye to win please, that really would make my day if they do. Most of my Smarkets bank is tied up for now on this race but once thats settled I will get on the 16.55, good luck to all you lot trying today ?
+0Quick sanity check on the 15 runner fog
I backed a 8-1 horse this morning with the 2 place edge. So £1 Eway say at 13-1.
I now have a £2 single bet at 13-1?So I’m sat on a huge arb and could lay more now if I wanted. Well if smarkets were working and I wasn’t about to be driving for a couple hrs soon anyway!
+0I’ve got 3 horses in the 4:20 using this method so if I hit 1st place I am looking at £177 to £282 profit. Is there now a way to make this guaranteed profit by placing/laying another bet at the new odds?
If I can green up on my 3, I might do that rather than going for the big win.

I would also be interested in this for my 2 horses but would not know where to start with the calculation
+0Yes betman it should be a £2 single bet at the boosted odds, minus any rule 4 though if there is one or if they even apply it. The non runner is Lip Service, not sure what his odds were.
+0Odds on Lip Service were 29.0.
+0A Great way for to play all those 8/16 horse races.
However, I can’t see this lasting for long.
+0Cheers Lewi, I think I’ve got it now… but because I’ve already layed I’ve put the enhanced back price in, the new lay price which is showing on Betfair (because smarkets isn’t up to date yet) and then put in my part lay stake at the price I layed earlier.
On a potential of £279, I could guarantee £28.53… I would be gutted if it came in though.
But doing that on all 3 should give about £70 based on my 3… hmm decisions.
+0Actually, the decision has been taken out of my hands. The size of my back bets have been dependant on how much I have at the exchange so my liability is all tied up.
Oh and Bainsy my fingers are firmly crossed for you because I have those 2… as well as Three Wise Men.
+0Yes get in! I had slow motion on the 16.55, that’s my first ever eachway edge win! So happy, cheers all that have helped ?
