Betfair Each Way edge

  • So I just noticed this gizmo.

On betfair when you are placing an each way bet you can adjust the terms if you want.

For example I can bet on Top Tug in Catterick 14:20 today odds 3.25. Standard place terms are 1/5 odds, 3 places.

This is almost value as you’re getting odds 3.25/1.45 for the win/place(3) on the bookie and the lays are at 3.7/1.27 on the exchange.

    BUT

If I toggle the Each Way Edge widget to only pay two places then this will increase the odds to 4.33! Giving 4.33/1.67 for the win/place(2), where the lays are 3.7/1.59 (2 to place). Which is better value.

Maybe its something someone wants to look into, but at least at first glance on this example looks like you can stretch the value you get e/w arbing by using the edge.

    Anyone use this feature regularly?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

out of 4 accounts, only one has ever done edge betting, the others have only ever done offers, 1 is still account on them

all have varied levels of restriction, however one that does not qualify for offers seems to have minimal restrictions on betting

for example i could get £500 each way on a 5/1, so on the each way edge that becomes £500 each way on a 8/1

need to wait for a big weekend of summer racing with loads of 16 plus handicaps before absolutely smashing and hoping hit a few lol

I keep seeing people mention the ‘Edge Loophole’.. Is there a loophole? Or is this just akin to ‘extra place’ offers, but the extra place is coming from the fact Edge lowers the odds, rather than it being ‘free’.

I’ve read all 12 pages and I think you set the edge to 2 places. I’ll have a play tomorrow with small stakes, lay the win part and punt the place part or maybe lay both parts, I’m not sure.

Set EW edge to 2 places from 4. Lay the win to cover both the win and place stakes. Profit if horse comes 2nd (or possibly, if odds favourable, 1st as well).

Ok, I’ll try it out tomorrow. Small stakes as I’m not totally sure on each way match bets.

So what sort of races/matches are we looking for here?

Is it a matter of trial and error or are their specific races to get the most out of this?

Chris, were there better odds earlier on this or are you still waiting to lay? I’ve only just had chance to look at this but cant see any good matches yet.

Test run done on Mario Marvel to come second…only done small stakes to win say £50 and not even that great value (probably getting 20/1 on you would say a 10/1 shot) but I need to ease myself in here I thinks

Matchedem, how have you put on £50 EW and layed it off?… the liability wasn’t there at the exchange.

It was Dan and it should come back.

I’m on Eight and Bob too

Eight and Bob is 23/24 now. You can lay the whole stake and be in profit if he wins and big profit if he comes second.

Matchedem I wouldn’t ease yourself in. Go in big. Wait for the right moment. They will restrict you quick.

I regret how I played it. I went in small and meek hoping to stay under the radar but still ended up restricted to 2€ ew per horse.
