Betfair Each Way edge
-
So I just noticed this gizmo.
On betfair when you are placing an each way bet you can adjust the terms if you want.
For example I can bet on Top Tug in Catterick 14:20 today odds 3.25. Standard place terms are 1/5 odds, 3 places.
This is almost value as you’re getting odds 3.25/1.45 for the win/place(3) on the bookie and the lays are at 3.7/1.27 on the exchange.
BUT
If I toggle the Each Way Edge widget to only pay two places then this will increase the odds to 4.33! Giving 4.33/1.67 for the win/place(2), where the lays are 3.7/1.59 (2 to place). Which is better value.
Maybe its something someone wants to look into, but at least at first glance on this example looks like you can stretch the value you get e/w arbing by using the edge.
Anyone use this feature regularly?

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

For those with accounts still left standing, Yorkidding is 29.0/17.5 in the 15.35 at Chester tomorrow for a risk free shot at 1st/2nd.
+0Thanks Lewi, can you put a brief summary of what bet you’re putting on for that? say £5 ew on BF at 29, what’s the lay? You letting the place part run or making risk free by laying win and place?
+0Bloody hell, lasted 25mins lads. Account closed. I’ve re opened another one to try get all over the chester cup tomorrow, anyone who has accounts, or if you make new accounts, Yorkidding is 29.0/17.5 in the 15.35 at Chester tomorrow for a risk free shot at 1st/2nd – get on asap. Great thread tho, keep them coming if anyone spots anymore.
+0I could not resist the leicester race tonight on a multiple account lol
Will check tomorrow what limits are as they still reasonable at moment for overnight
But I agree it might be time to stop using this loophole
Berman when you say they doubled your limits, what had you been restricted down to?
I might have to do some normal bets on my own account to see if my max £100 restriction goes up then
+0Just £10 e/w. Lay £20.41 on the win. If 1st, £13.23 profit. If 2nd £80 profit. Anything else, break even.
+0Obviously check that you’re not going to lose money if the horse wins but the lay amounts are easier to just memorise or write down:
£5ew – £10.20
£10ew – £20.41
£20ew – £40.82
£25ew – £51.02
£50ew – £102.04+0Some value now on Sea of Heaven as well – not risk free though. 14.0/9.4

For what its worth i’ve been restricted to 0 and never used to edge feature! Did arb them for abit last few weeks though but yesterday my account didn’t seem to have restrictions at all..
+0I was cut to a grand win on anything, which was the first time I’d noticed a limit anywhere on betfair
Last night I could win 2k on the Chester card, that’s up to 2500 this morning. As a side note I’m wondering if more mixing things up might help. Got bored of much mug betting…. but maybe dutching a few football games where you can get small % gains thrown in with each way arbs and then the odd edge just slips through that.
+0If you’re going to do it and probably you shouldn’t as ppl are losing their accounts.
But wait for one big race where you can get a bunch of them for good value and hit it as hard as you can as if it is your last chance. Make sure you make enough on that one race to make up for loss of income through ew arbing and offers etc for the next year…
What would be helpful for this and a lot of matched betting would be an exchange to offer a market for 2nd place so you can guarantee profit and remove variance on speculative punts like these.
Would also be an opportunity for the ppl with still accounts left to share the value back to the exchange. I mean I imagine a lot of value in backing on that market as it will be just matched bettors trying to lay off 2nd place offers or ew edge shots driving up the price.
+0£169 from my first attempt last night. Getttiiiiinnn
+0Dutching games to appear to mug betting isn’t exactly mug betting. You’re still taking value which won’t help the account long term.
They can track how often you beat the closing line and by what %.I think this is why so many say they tried mug betting and it doesn’t work. It does work but you have to bet like a proper mug and be willing to lose some value.
+0Mug betting only works if you lose the bet at the bookies, simple as that.
+0Yorkidding 2nd in the 15.35 – Get in!
+0Yorkidding. 2 races with the edge, two damn 2nds, +350!!!!!
